From The Owner
I've been cooking since I was a kid, inspired by my father's Southern culinary traditions. The Service Station is the result of more than 15 years of experience in cooking, restaurant management, and hospitality. Every plate reflects my passion for scratch-made Southern comfort food, slow-smoked BBQ, and creating a welcoming place where family, friends, and our community can enjoy great food together.
A Concept Built on Community & History
The Service Station was created by Chef Kendell Sheppard and Kevin Brackens, known throughout Louisville as The Food Peddler. Together, they transformed a historic gas station into one of the most welcoming Old Louisville restaurants, where guests gather for scratch-made Southern cooking, smoked meats, live entertainment, and genuine hospitality. It's more than a restaurant—it's a community gathering place.
History of The Service Station
For more than a century, this historic building has been part of the Old Louisville community. We've preserved its original character while creating a warm, inviting destination for brunch, dinner, and late-night dining. From its restored architecture and exposed brick to its rich history, The Service Station offers a dining experience that blends Louisville's past with today's Southern comfort.
Menu Inspiration
Every dish is inspired by Chef Kendell's lifelong passion for cooking and the traditions passed down by his father. Our menu features scratch-made Southern comfort food, slow-smoked brisket, tender ribs, wings, hand-cut steaks, and brunch favorites prepared fresh daily. Every meal reflects our commitment to quality ingredients, authentic Southern flavors, and hospitality that keeps guests coming back.
