A Concept Built on Community & History
The Service Station was created by Chef Kendell Sheppard and Kevin Brackens — known to Louisville as The Food Peddler — who share a deep love for local history, food, and community. What was once a gas station has been transformed into a gathering place where people from all walks of life come together over great meals and great energy.

Our building still stands strong after more than a century, and we’ve kept its original character alive. The restored architecture, vintage charm, and exposed brick make it one of Old Louisville’s most photographed spots. A piece of the past — renewed for today.

Every dish on our menu reflects Chef Kendell’s lifelong passion for cooking and hospitality. Inspired by the culinary traditions passed down from his father, he combines classic Southern comfort with bold, fresh flavors. From savory entrées to indulgent desserts, our food is crafted with care, quality, and creativity.
From The Owner
I've been cooking ever since I was a kid, inspired by the traditional culinary traditions of my father. The service station is the culmination of my 15+ years of experience in cooking, restaurant management, & hospitality.
